Hungry Beast

Hungry Beast

9:00pm Wednesday, 10 Feb 2010  Entertainment   CC M

The Beast is back... Hungry Beast returns for a second series.

Having learnt the ropes with their first 10 episodes, the Hungry Beast team is back for a new season on ABC TV and on the web starting Wednesday 10th February 2010.

This year – while all 19 Beasts will continue to create and present stories for both the TV and web – the task of hosting the show will fall to four members of the team: Dan Ilic, Kirsten Drysdale, Monique Schafter and Nick Hayden.

Hungry Beast will also be getting out of the studio this series, with reporters introducing stories from the field and the hosts presenting from the Hungry Beast office.

Hard-hitting, Walkley-refusing reporter Victoria Dynamite will have an increased role, before her inevitable defection to commercial current affairs and a lifetime supply of expensive hairspray.

And more original stories will be posted on www.abc.net.au/hungrybeast, and there will be more space for the audience to get involved – either by uploading their own stories or by participating in one of our viewer forums. Over the summer, the Hungry Beast website was put up on the hoist to create bigger video players and wider text columns.

Amanda Duthie, ABC TV Head of Arts and Entertainment, said of Hungry Beast’s return: “It is brilliant to have the Beast team back on ABC TV – their energy and passion for making TV with a sideways view is a refreshing contribution to the Australian television landscape.”

Andrew Denton, Executive Producer, said: “The Hungry Beast team were on L-plates last year and yet they still managed to deliver some original and highly memorable television. This year, they’re on their P’s and we’re going to chuck them the keys to see where they take us. God knows where we’ll end up, but I doubt we’ll forget the ride”.

Hungry Beast will be repeated on ABC2 – Thursday, February 11 at 8:30pm
