Where did you grow up?
I was born in Broken Hill in NSW then when I was six I moved to Mount Isa in Qld for a couple of years. Then my family moved to Orange in NSW then Rushworth in Victoria before returning to Broken Hill where I lived until I was 13. The last move was to a farm on the outskirts of Adelaide. My parents are still there but I moved into the city for Uni and then work.

Where did you go to school?
Orange Primary School, Rushworth Primary School, Burke Ward Primary School (Broken Hill), Broken Hill High and Tatachilla Lutheran College (McLaren Vale, SA).

What degree do you have and where did you get it?
Bachelor of Arts (Journalism) at University of South Australia. I also have a Certificate 4 in screen (I studied camera and editing) from MAPS at Hamilton College, Adelaide.

What were your first and second jobs?
My first job was at a video shop in Willunga... the best job a school kid could hope for. I spent my time watching videos and eating lollies! My second was a bit more unusual. I worked on a gold mine in the middle of the Tanami desert in the Northern Territory. I was an occupational health and safety officer, which meant I spent a lot of time doing drug and alcohol tests on the miners. I also got to spend some time with the environmental department; catching critters, collecting seeds and spraying weeds. Not a bad holiday job!

Do you have a pet and what are your hobbies?
I have lots of pets! Three dogs, one cat, two horses, a goat, a cockatoo, chooks, geese, budgies… the list goes on. My house has always been a menagerie. But now I live in an apartment so I have to visit the zoo (my parent’s house) on weekends. As for hobbies, I help out with the occasional short film and I dabble in editing. But most of the time I watch movies rather than make them. I like to draw and paint, read books, and listen to music. Plus I love hiking.

What is the most exciting thing you’ve ever done?

The most exciting thing I’ve ever done was probably bungee jumping in New Zealand, or maybe going down a mine in Bolivia. They mine there like they did here hundreds of years ago…drilling holes by hand and packing explosives in before running for cover! Plus they shimmy down 10- metre shafts to get to the next level. Not the safest way to do it, but very exciting!
