Max Regnery & Deborah Hale - (played Brett Tucker & Cathy Godbold)

Max Regnery runs Pine Hollow Stables as he would a family. He cares about his students, celebrating their victories and mourning their defeats.

In series 1, Max was in no hurry to settle down, until he met Deborah Hale, a journalist on a city paper. They got together after she came to Pine Hollows to write a story about the movie being filmed there.

In this second series, Deborah and Max return as a newly married couple - with Deborah still getting used to life in the country.

Max also has to decide between taking a once in a lifetime opportunity, or staying at the stables. Deborah helps him make the decision by offering to look after the stables while he is gone.

Brett Tucker

Brett Tucker plays Max Regnery
As a kid growing up in the Yarra Valley, Brett dreamed of being an actor, but didn't think a boy from the bush could make it happen. He started work in the local bank, but his desire to act wouldn't go away. Ironically enough, The Saddle Club was filmed in the same area where Brett grew up, wondering if he could ever break into the world of show business!

In between shooting series 1 and 2 Brett found himself working with big screen greats like Naomi Watts and Josef Fiannes. He's also appeared in Australian movie Mall Boy and well known series Blue Heelers, McLeod's Daughters and Neighbours on TV.

Brett on Max in Series 2: "Max is hard-working, very placid, honorable man. He loves horses, loves the outdoors. Running the stables is the kind of business that requires a great deal of hard work and not much return. And he is the kind of man who works for the love and joy of it, not the money."

Brett on Max in Series 1: "Max is a horse lover and this is his life. I see him as a teacher really, and a nourisher. He is willing to nurture the horses in his business and he wants the kids to get enjoyment out of what he loves. Dealing with kids, he has to be tough sometimes because they can be so fickle but he loves his life. It's a solitary life so he must get a bit lonely at times."

Cathy Godbold

Cathy Godbold plays Deborah
Cathy has worked in most of the Australian TV dramas including; Neighbours and Home and Away. She's also starred in three Australian films and her stage work includes Noises Off and Falling From Grace.

Cathy says about Deborah: "Deborah was very much the city girl and not comfortable around horses. But because she loves Max, she has put that aside and tried to fit in. At first she was very much the female professional lady, wearing power suits and high heels. Now she is wearing jeans and has become a lot more down to earth. She adores the kids and, as a journalist, finds some good stories just being around The Saddle Club."
