Today we start our new series, Baby Matters, with Robin Barker.

Robin is the author of Baby Love, referred to by some as the bible for new parents, and, more recently, The Mighty Toddler.

She's a registered nurse, midwife and early childhood nurse with over 25 years' experience with families and babies, and we think you'll enjoy her commonsense approach—which she mixes with a good dose of humour!

Over the next few weeks we'll be talking to Robin about topics like breastfeeding, sleep and toilet training.

But today we start by taking a look at preparing for the arrival of a new baby...surely a daunting exercise in this day and age full of fads and fashions and conflicting advice.
