Artworks Feature: Metrostop

We're taking public transport for this tour and we're taking it with Gregor Dallas, an English writer who's lived in France for many years.

His latest book is called Metrostop Paris: History from the City's Heart, and in it he goes to various stops on the Paris Metro. As he comes up out of each station, he has tales of the history and culture of that neighbourhood; a soupcon here and a snippet there: from the making of Emile Zola's novel The Belly of Paris, about the food markets at Les Halles, to the birth of bebop and jazz in the cafes of Saint Germaine de Pres.
