Chinese contemporary art
|
Paris may have been where it was at, artistically speaking, a hundred years ago. Now it's Beijing. Alongside China's fast move from communism to consumerism is an amazing boom in Chinese contemporary art—imaginative, energetic art and an enthustiastic global market paying big, big bucks for it.
Julie Copeland talks with Jayne Dyer, an Australian artist living in Beijing. Jayne was one of the artists involved in a China-Australia exchange exhibition, Process-Journey, with the Beijing-based Australian curator Tony Scott.
We also hear from Claudia Albertini, author of Avatars and Antiheroes: A Guide to Contemporary Chinese Artists.
