Synoptic Situation
A firm ridge of high pressure along the north tropical Queensland coast.

Strong wind warning
for north-east Gulf of Carpentaria waters north of Cullen point
SE winds at 25/30 knots, continuing for at least the next 48 hours. Seas will
reach 2.5 metres offshore.

The next warning will be issued by 5pm EST.

Please be aware
Wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the averages given here,
and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.

A firm ridge of high pressure along the north tropical Queensland coast.

Strong Wind Warning
Torres Strait to Cooktown
Expect SE winds at 25/30 knots, continuing for at least the next 48 hours. Seas
will reach 3 metres outside the reef and to 2 metres inside the reef.

The next warning will be issued by 5 pm EST.

Please be aware
Wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the averages given here,
and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.

Cloud over inland QLD near a trough is causing showers and isolated storms, mainly over the southeast. Cloud is lingering over the tropical coast as moist onshore winds feed into a trough. This cloud is bringing a few showers, mainly light.
