Coastal Waters Wind Warning
For NSW Waters South of Cape Byron.
Issued at 4:25 am EST on Saturday 30 August 2008

Synoptic situation
A cold front extends northwards from a Low in the Bight and is moving east. The
pressure gradient along the New South Wales coast will tighten ahead of this
change late Saturday and Sunday, with strengthening northerly winds, chiefly
offshore.

Strong Wind Warning
For the Far North Coast, Mid North Coast, Hunter Coast, Sydney Coast, Illawarra
Coast, South Coast, from Cape Byron to Gabo Island

N/NE wind increasing to 20/30 knots south of Ulladulla late Saturday afternoon
or evening, chiefly offshore. Winds turning N/NW early Sunday, with winds
increasing to 20/30 knots offshore south of Cape Byron. Sea rising 2 to 3
metres, chiefly offshore. S/SE swell 1 to 1.5 metres.

The next warning will be issued by 11 am Saturday

Please be aware
Wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the averages given here,
and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.

Cloud is building over northeast NSW in a weakening trough, triggering scattered showers and the odd storm. Low cloud on the coast and ranges in onshore winds is causing light showers south of Sydney. High cloud increasing over the west ahead of a trough is not yet bringing rain.
