SafeWork investigating beam fall in Adelaide

Posted August 29, 2008 19:48:00

SafeWork SA is investigating an accident in the city after a steel beam fell out of a sling 12 metres above the ground.

Nobody was injured from the fall, which happened just after 10:00am ACST this morning, at a site on the corner of King William Street and Gilles Street.

A SafeWork SA spokesman says the early indication is that the sling carrying the beam failed.

He says the beam hit the superstructure on the way down and no more work will be done until an engineer says it is safe.
