Horseracing industry students forced to move

Sites at Morphettville or Gilles Plains in Adelaide have been recommended for a TAFE horseracing course.
A sale of Cheltenham racecourse in Adelaide's north-west will force TAFE to relocate the students, who learn about horse handling and the racing industry.
Their stables, a riding arena and the 15 students will need to be relocated.
South Australia's Further Education Minister Paul Caica says the existing Morphettville racecourse or the Gilles Plains TAFE campus have been suggested as potential new homes for the students, by a working party.
"It's been a very positive process and I'm looking forward to receiving their considered advice in the next few months," the Minister said.
Mr Caica says says the students will remain at Cheltenham for the rest of the year.
The federal Labor MP, Rod Sawford, says the Gilles Plains site is not equipped for a horseracing course.
"If you're going to train people for the racing industry, at least put them in touch with the racing industry," he said.
"What's Gilles Plains got to do with the racing industry? You need horses, you need people riding, you need people doing track work, you need people gearing up horses, mucking out stables and all the rest of it. To do it at Gilles Plains doesn't make sense."
