Every week, ABC Classic FM turns the spotlight on an outstanding new CD which can be heard at least six times in that seven day period. You'll hear all kinds of music, from Renaissance to something only just written. The one thing in common is that they're all excellent new discs.

Athletic, sparky, rhythmically alert: nothing could be more invigorating than Stravinsky’s music for violin and piano. Only his spry Duo Concertante was composed specifically for the instruments. The rest of the bill on this two-CD set features Stravinsky’s inventive transcriptions, lifted mostly from his lighter ballets, Pulcinella and The Fairy’s Kiss. Anthony Marwood’s violin finds infinite subtleties in the music’s dance, while at the piano Thomas Adès is forceful without being domineering.
